Edmundston

Arrive in the morning in Edmundston, the gateway to Madawaska. Between nature, panoramic views, and gourmet stops, this first day gently immerses you in the atmosphere of New Brunswick’s Northwest. From the botanical garden to the banks of the Madawaska River, each stop sets the tone for an adventure rich in discovery.

Le Petit Témis connects several parts of the region and lets you discover portions of the route by bike, an excellent way to explore the land differently.

At Mont Farlagne, a network of trails invites you to explore the area at your own pace, whether on foot or by bike depending on the route. The Madawaska Trail is well suited for cycling, while the Prospector Trail is easier to explore on foot. In the evening, stop by Terrasse Court.

Edmundston → Baker Lake

Leave Edmundston for Baker Lake, a peaceful village nestled between mountains and forests on the border of Maine and Quebec. The drive takes you through beautiful rural landscapes before arriving at the lake, where nature, hiking, and panoramic views invite you to slow down and fully enjoy the region.

Baker Lake | Haut-Madawaska

Take time to fully enjoy the nature surrounding Baker Lake and Haut-Madawaska. Between the lake, forests, and border landscapes, this flexible day invites you to choose your own adventure: guided fishing, kayaking on the lake, a scenic hike, or relaxing by the water. In the evening, the calm of the region and the starry sky create the perfect ending to the day around an outdoor fire.

Baker Lake → Grand Falls

Leave Baker Lake for Grand Falls, a town known for its impressive falls and spectacular canyon. Between panoramic roads, thrilling trails, and gourmet discoveries in the downtown core, this day invites you to explore one of the most striking natural landscapes in New Brunswick’s Northwest.

The gorge and falls are especially spectacular late in the day when the light illuminates the canyon walls. It is recommended to book the Zip Zag Zipline activity in advance.

Grand Falls → Saint-Quentin

Take the road to Saint-Quentin via Route 17, a scenic drive through the vast forest landscapes typical of New Brunswick’s Northwest. Upon arrival, discover the town’s history and local culture through its heritage sites before ending the day with a craft beer or a good meal at one of the village restaurants.

Enjoy this beautiful transition day on the road. Activities can be adjusted depending on your arrival time in Saint-Quentin.

Saint-Quentin → Mount Carleton Provincial Park

Head toward Mount Carleton Provincial Park, one of New Brunswick’s natural gems. With its majestic peaks, peaceful lakes, and vast forests, the park offers the perfect day for hiking, wildlife watching, and moments of relaxation in nature. At nightfall, the park’s starry sky offers an unforgettable show far from any light pollution.

Return to Edmundston

For this final day of the route, head back toward Edmundston while enjoying the landscapes of New Brunswick’s Northwest one last time. Upon arrival, take time to stop downtown for a coffee, a few souvenirs, and one last gourmet discovery before concluding your Madawaska adventure.
